7 PRACTICAL TIPS FOR BALANCING BUSINESS AND MOTHER HOOD.

Attempting to balance life as women has always proven to be a rather difficult task.
Are you a mom and feel like you can never get any work done for your business?
Do you often feel guilty when you spend extra time on your business instead of with your children?
Here are steps to help you succeed:

1.Do What You Love

If you want to have a family and run a successful business, then it’s crucial that you listen to your inner voice and follow what it is telling you. All too often, I hear people say they want to start a business or create something of their own, but they feel there are too many challenges, so they don’t go for it. You have to feel it is worth the risk because you really love what you do. There have to be more reasons to say yes than to say no.

Balancing the titles between a Mom and a Business Owner can be extremely difficult .

You feel guilty for neglecting your biz.
Guilty for neglecting your mama duties.
It’s a common feeling – it creeps up into your heart and says that you aren’t doing enough. That YOU aren’t enough.
It’s not true. You CAN be a successful creative business woman AND a lovely mom. But you’ve got to stop feeling guilty about everything.

Once you’ve checked step one off you can then start focusing on your goals.

2. SCHEDULE YOUR DAYS BUT STAY FLEXIBLE

knowing how to balance organization and flexibility helps you to keep the wide-angle lens on life.
Rather than thinking of organization and flexibility as opposites, think of them as two different steps in the Mom and Biz dance.

If you don’t schedule your time, you won’t know which time slot you’re borrowing from when you need to be flexible.

3. SET BOUNDARIES

Family time is family time. All of our smart phones and tablets make it super easy to attempt to multitask
You aren’t doing your kid or your biz any favors when you scroll through your Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest feeds while attempting to parent.

4. BE PRESENT

Even if you put your cell phone away, your mind can go wondering back to work. Don’t let it! Those kids are growing up by the second. You don’t want to miss it. Be present while you are with your family.

5. MANAGE YOUR STRESS

Keeping stress levels low is so important for that balancing act. Stress has a way of eating away your body, mind, and soul. If you are stressed at work it will inevitably spill over at home. If you own your own business, you are going to be incredibly busy. Accept that, but take the time to manage the stress that comes with it. Exercise is my favorite way to relieve stress.

6. COMMUNICATION IS KEY

You can’t expect to balance family and work if you don’t communicate well at both. Communication is often associated with talking, but even more importantly-it is listening. Listen to the feedback from your family and your employees or business partners. Adjust your approach. Never be afraid to continue to grow yourself both personally and professionally.

7. Embrace Failure

I have found that embracing and learning from my failures is an important aspect of both business and parenthood. I deal with failure on a daily basis, as do we all. When splitting time between being a mom and an entrepreneur, there is always this nagging sense that when I’m in the office I should be with my kids, and when I’m with my kids I should be in the office. It’s a vicious cycle that lends itself quite perfectly to feelings of failure and inadequacy.
