FACEBOOK OWNER Mark Zuckerberg VISITS AFRICA FOR FIRST TIME


Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg pays surprise visit to the African continent making is first stop in Nigeria the giants of Africa and also the leading African country in technology.

Mark Zuckerberg is in Nigeria where he has been meeting local tech entrepreneurs and children at a summer coding camp in lagos.

 

 During his visit the Facebook CEO and Founder, Mark Zuckerberg, embarked on a 2km walk to the Andela Amity Campus.

 

 

 Earlier in June, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative invested $24m in Andela in a move to support young developers in their mission acquire knowledge a testament to the fact that talent is equally distributed around the globe.
 
 Mark spent time with Andela developers to learn about the highlights and challenges of being a software developer in Lagos.


 Andela highlights an important reality that physical location is no longer a requirement for building a world-class engineering team.

Mr Zuckerberg also defended his decision to continue rolling out Free Basics across the continent .
Free Basics is a scheme that offers "free access" to Facebook and a limited other number of other websites without eating into visitors' mobile data caps.
India banned the service earlier this year after complaints that it discriminated against other online services.
